Please, Save the Penguins

I have a friend who knows more about biology and the lifecycle of penguins than I care to remember. Of course I listen to her, because this is HUGELY important to her, saving the penguins.

Understanding the penguins.

She gets paid next to nothing to do this, but this is her passion.

Her reason, so to speak and I love her dearly for it.

Her passion to understand life and to save the penguins from it.

(I really do love them by the way, but if you’ve ever been around them, they smell like the kind of cow manure not even cow’s want to be around; please and no thank you, please and no thank you)

All of us fight for something in this life.

I have fought for victim’s justice, and for me to be heard in a world dominated by men who don’t listen that well, who don’t listen at all, but in all of our fights, we can often forget that all things come to an end.

This life, your life, my life, this world.

It’s coming to an end, but what you can do is love the best way you know how even if that means you have to do things others don’t want to do (like save penguins) because we live in a world that serves itself on some level, if we didn’t, we couldn’t be human and we couldn’t come to know a God who loves us to our highest highs and often lets us stay in our lowest of lows, to know how deeply we are loved, and how much we care.

Sometimes we care too much, sometimes not enough at all, but for those who can say that they lived a good life and gave where they could, you will be rewarded when death comes for you, as it does for us all.

You will be rewarded, and you will be at peace.

Because you loved, because you cared, and because you did (or did not) save the penguins.

Or the world from itself.
